P18 - Interfering in TRP channel-linked disease models with drug-like compounds
To assign the physiological and pathophysiological roles of TRP channels and to explore their targeting in experimental therapies, specific drug-like modulators are urgently needed. This project aims at identifying and optimising drug-like modulators of TRP channels for which no validated tools are available so far. Optimised hits will be subjected to a thorough analysis of their specificity in recombinant expression systems. The biological effect of validated compounds on native TRP channel complexes in primary cells and tissues will be investigated. Their application in disease models is expected to provide insight into the therapeutic potential of TRP channel-modulating drugs.
