P24 - Reagents for spatiotemporal control over TRPM/TRPC function

In project P24 we will generate new chemical reagents with which to study native TRP channels. We will develop photoswitchable reagents for modulating TRP channels in their physiological contexts with high spatiotemporal precision, using both classical (sterically demanding photoswitches on known pharmacophores) and novel approaches. We will also synthesise photoaffinity label derivatives of TRP modulators to characterise their binding sites, and provide ongoing synthetic support to the CRC.
